Unlike the trio of female genital mutilation, early marriages and the tradition of home births; …
Nigeria recorded its first Ebola case on July 20 when a Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer, came with the disease into Lagos. He was treated at First Consultant Hospital in Obalende by Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh, Justina Echelonu and one other nurse (name withheld) who later lost their lives as a result of their contact with him. These individuals died in the line of duty and their actions helped prevent the spread of this deadly and debilitating disease in Nigeria.
As part of our Diamond Woman (DW) CSR initiative, DW has donated funds to First Consultant Hospital to aid in the replacement of equipment that were confiscated and support families of their deceased staff who have been stigmatised and displaced.
We encourage our DW community to give towards this worthy cause by making donations directly to First Consultant Hospital.
